hello!! i'm currently living in dallas, tx and will be moving to veracruz, veracruz in october, with my husband who is from Mexico City, but has a home in Veracruz puerto. i am SO excited, but also a little nervous. we'll probably only stay for about 6 months, then return to the states, but i'm just wondering what life is like there for people from the united states.
but anyways this is an introduction, so a little about myself and my husband. I am 26, currently work at Starbucks, am pregnant (the baby will be about 6months when we move), and I'm originally from Traverse City, mi. we actually just recently moved to Dallas.
my husband's name is arturo, and like i said he's from mexico city, but his parents always took him to veracruz as a kid, and then he lived there for most of his teen years, then he moved to the united states when he was 20.
i am so excited to finally get to go to mexico and this beautiful place he calls home! he hasn't been home since he came to the states, so he's excited too.
thanks for reading this

Welcome to the friendliest blog on Mexico, Amber and Arturo! We live and work in Cordoba, about 80 minutes away from the city of Veracruz. The climate at 3200 feet altitude is almost perfect. Come and visit us when you want to cool off. _________________ frank & ania, las magnolias B&B |

Hola Amber & Arturo,
Working at Starbucks I wonder if you know the Mexican Government is suing Starbucks for copyright infringement relating to their logo on the cups etc.? Curious that Mexico that is such a copyright violator duplicating films. music, perfumes and watches etc. yet it is complaining about Starbucks cups- Have you heard?
In any case welcome here - hope we can help you ease into your new life south of the border. _________________ http://www.vivaveracruz.com/blog/ |

We have just moved to Xico and today we're looking at Pico de Orizaba, deep in new snow, and finishing breakfast on the balcony in shorts and tshirts...
You're gonna really love this part of the planet as well as the people who live here, kind, wonderful folks.
Stop by to visit when you are in our neighborhood.

wow, thanks all of you!
no, i didn't know about the mexico suit against starbucks. i'll have to look that up, see what it's about, cause i don't know what our cup logo, with the siren, has to do with mexico!
thanks for all the offers, i'll keep them in mind when we get there. and hey, did i hear something about snow? i didn't know there was snow in mexico! oh but up at that altitude, i guess it'd be possible! no snow for me, i'm from michigan, and have had enough for now, though i know i will need to visit MI from time to time just to remember what a white christmas is.
have a nice day! |

Starbucks issued some cups with the Aztec calendar plus a few other designs that were pre-columbian. Apparently Mexico has a law that these designs can not be use for commercial purposes without compensation to the Mexican government. As soon as the cups are off the shelf and Starbucks has paid a compensation, this will be over. _________________ I worry that all of my wisdom is derived from bad analogies. |

Amber, I live in Veracruz, VER, on the north end with my Mexican husband. Let me know if you make it down here, it would be great to meet another native speaker - and a fellow midwesterner, I am from Ohio! _________________ inveracruz.blogspot.com |

well! it's been a while since i visisted here but we were going back and forth on the idea of going to veracruz when our lease is up. but now, i am pretty sure, we've made a concrete decision. the husband has decided he's really fed up working here, having to work dead end jobs, even though he's got his mexican college degree in both scuba and computer science. i've had my baby, he is almost three months old. we will be moving to veracruz in october. i am worried about all the paperwork and legal hassles...cause i am moving there, not just visiting, and so is Ian, our baby....so i'm trying to find out everything we have to do. we're driving in.
also we have to make some money before we leave! i don't want to go to mexico as broke as we are now..so we may sell a few things, though we don't have much to sell. i've been trying to think of weekend job ideas here in dallas, we've got a few ideas up our sleeves, it's just a matter of putting them into motion, and hoping they work!
Leah, i'm really excited about the fact that there's another american so close by! i fear so much that i'll be dreadfully lonely and out of place. i've read your blog, you make it so interesting!
all of you sound sooo friendly, and seem to like mexico a lot, so hopefully you'll help me with my transition!
thanks! |

Loree... don't let paperwork panic you. Having a Mexican husband and a baby (you need to get the babys dual national papers working as soon as you can) , this will give you a little more leverage than non mexican married couples.
You fit the profile for many people here (married to a mexican). There's always problems everywhere but they seem more easier to overcome here. Just be flexible & go with the flow. _________________ Visit my blog and learn more about Tlaxcala.

You will love Veracruz! Miles of boardwalk along the beaches, Costco, WalMart, Samīs Club, Home Depot, KFC, a big mall, BurgerKing and lots of other stores you see in the USA.
There are a few scuba shops in town and tourism is growing every year. You will have a couple nice months before winter hits...donīt forget the winter coat, it does get cold sometimes. _________________ Villas Tepetapan & RV Park
